Benefits and risks of Chocolate

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Chocolate is a psychoactive food. A chocolate comprises a number of raw and processed food and that are produced from the seeds of tropical cocoa tree. The cocoa tree was named by the 17th century Swedish naturalist, Linnaeus. The Greek term theobroma means literally “food of the gods”. Chocolate has also been called the food of the devil; but the theological basis of this claim is obscure. Native lowland and tropical South Africa has been cultivating cocoa from long time.

Chocolate has been said to cause acne and tooth decay and it also has a reputation for being a fattening, nutrition less food. On the other hand, chocolate is also known for being everything from an anti-depressant to an aphrodisiac. While there are still many things that we don’t know about chocolate, the following mentioned benefits and causes of consumption of chocolates could suggest you in best way.

Some of the benefits associates with regular consumption of cocoa are mentioned as eating chocolate releases endorphins in the brain, which act as pain-relievers. If you take sufficient amount of cocoa or chocolate it will boosts one’s appetite also does not cause weight gain. CHOCOLATE PUDDING DAY

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

The increasing percentage of people diagnosed with diabetes notwithstanding, people take to chocolate pudding as sunflowers take to sunshine. Describing chocolate pudding as popular with the masses is an under statement. These goodies made of mouth-watering chocolate are a favorite of children and adults alike. Chocolate pudding’s popularity is definitely on an upswing, even though several decades have passed since it’s creation.

The alluring taste of the product led to chocolate pudding being considered a staple food of teenagers. Adults have not been able to keep their hands off them, though they have strongly voiced their dissent against a grub that has a high sugar quotient. Let’s put it that chocolate pudding is a necessary evil for many. They want to get away from it because of the high calorie content; at the same time, they want to savor the strange tingling sensation that spreads to your brain when you take the first delicious spoonful. Really, the stuff temptations are made of!

Chocolate pudding owes it origins to the chocolate custard. Chocolate pudding is a variation of the more traditional chocolate custard. The dish was invented by Meredith, Helenna and Mary. During the early years of chocolate pudding, it was considered a food item suitable for children who have a weak physical disposition. It was so because of the high calories, and therefore energy, quotient contained in chocolate. Later it became an item that found mention in the dessert menu of all self-respecting eateries. General Foods introduced the chocolate pudding mix in 1934 and it became famous as “Jell-O Chocolate Pudding” in 1936.

With health food adapting to the demands of the modern world and its holier-than-thou diet charts doing the round of every health clinic, gulping down dollops of chocolate pudding is no longer a trend that anyone wants to follow or start. People have woken up to the fact that one spoonful of chocolate pudding translates to roughly half-an-hour of exercise. So they try to keep the extra calories away by depriving themselves of one of the most alluring tastes that one can provide to one’s taste buds. There are some exceptions of course, like yours truly! We strongly vote in favor of our dear chocolate pudding, no matter how many hours we need to fight it out at the gym to get the redundant calories off our systems!

Celebrate Chocolate Pudding Day on June 26th with a lot of fanfare, as the day definitely is a toast to one of the most popular fast-food items. Trivial it may seem to the purists when they hear of days being named after food-items which to their perception are sold in the back-streets, but they have always been the same. You and I need not be burdened by their learned views. We go out there on Chocolate Pudding Day, have plenty of them and plan when to have them next. Calories and critics can keep up their fret and fume!

Chocolates

Monday, August 25th, 2008

For many years, chocolate gifts have been the gifts for all occasions. Any special occasion, from holidays to anniversaries to birthdays, was a welcome occasion to give and receive these gifts and a high percentage of individuals across the nation has given or received these items at some point in their lives. The industry has become a multibillion dollar giant and revenues continue to climb each year.

Many individuals have a favorite type of chocolate gifts because each manufacturer’s product tastes slightly different. This is because of the proprietary formulas that the manufacturers use to create their different products. Because of the number of different ingredients that can be added to the base cocoa to create the many different varieties available, there are an infinite number of combinations that can be used to create a unique product to sell to the masses.

If a person indicates a preference for a particular type of chocolate gifts, that should be the type that is purchased for them. There is always a reason that a person may prefer one brand over another and they may not enjoy the taste of a different brand. To ensure that the recipient gets the most enjoyment out of the gift, it should be a brand that they prefer.

If the type of chocolate gifts that the person prefers is not known, then the person should choose a type that they themselves prefer. People that have a lot of similar interests will often have similar tastes as well. While this is not always a fool-proof method of choosing the right item, more often than not the person is pleased with the taste and the thought that went into choosing the gift.

The number of retailers that have chocolate gifts available is staggering to consider. A person can purchase some version of these items at almost any retailer that sells food, gifts, or specializes in confections. Some retailers have very large selections that take up large areas of their stores, while other retailers have a limited selection located on several shelves to choose from.

One of the most popular places to purchase chocolate gifts is stores that only sell sweet items such as chocolates and candies. These stores can generally be found in large shopping malls and small stand alone store in larger retail areas. The items available at these retailers are generally more expensive than those found in other stores, but the quality is often superior to what is available at other retailers.

Some of the stores that specialize in items such as chocolate gifts are branded with a particular candy maker’s brand. These stores only carry the items that were created in the company’s factory and will often have an extensive selection of different items because that is what the company focuses on. All of the items available at these stores may have been created using the same chocolate formula, making the taste of the chocolate consistent for all of the items.

Another place where many people choose to purchase chocolate gifts is mass merchandise stores. These retailers will generally have a limited selection of items ranging in quality from fair to excellent. Many of the individuals that choose to purchase their products here like the fact that they have several different items available covering a wide price range and the consumer can choose which one has the quality and price that meets their needs.

Another reason why many individuals choose to obtain their chocolate gifts from mass merchandisers is because it allows them to compare several different brands at the same time, compared to the single brands available at most stand alone stores. This allows them to choose brands that they have never tried before and experience them for a reasonable price. A large number of individuals find their favorite brand by trying the different varieties available at mass merchandisers.

There are also a large number of companies that will allow consumers to purchase chocolate gifts by mail, telephone, or internet website. Companies that sell their products in this way generally have a large and loyal client base that prefers their products over other similar items. Using these retailers is very convenient when purchasing gifts for other people because multiple gifts can be shipped to multiple addresses with the push of a button.

Cold Chain- A Way Forward

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

A consumer revolution is taking place in India as people change their eating habits and shopping patterns. While fresh foods have long been a staple, more people are putting a premium on speed and convenience. Supermarkets and shopping malls are cropping up everywhere, and sales of consumer-ready frozen foods are burgeoning, from ice cream and frozen entrees, to vegetables, fruits, sea foods and meats.

To meet this rising demand, manufactures and retailers of temperature sensitive products must move their perishable foods quickly, while emphasizing quality, safety, reliability, and traceability. This is a real challenge in a country where the cold-chain infrastructure still needs a lot of work to be done. India’s cold chain infrastructure is fragmented, under funded, and scrambling to keep up with soaring demand. The need of the hour is to address these concerns immediately.
